>>> first golden globe nomination for her role in "the impossible." she's joining us on the phone. congratulations.

>> caller: thank you. very exciting.

>> how did it feel? were you up and listening?

>> caller: i was up because i'm in new york city . and i wasn't watching the show, i was -- it's my son's birthday today.

>> happy birthday .

>> caller: so i was playing with him and we've been up for a while having brt day pancake s pancakes -- having birthday pancakes and the phone rang and i did a little bit of a yelp and my son got worried and i had to explain what it was and now he thinks he got a golden globe .

>> we're seeing images of the movie "the impossible." as i understand it, it was a movie you relied on a lot of your expressions, not a lot of dialogue in this movie?

>> caller: not a lot actually. we did a little bit in the beginning but once we were in the water we realized it was not possible to speak.

>> i read the interviews when you were doing this movie, you said it was basically like reliving a nightmare of yours, right?

>> caller: i had a bad experience in a riptide several years earlier when i was a teenager immigrating from england to australia. we weren't particularly strong swimmers, we stopped in bali and got caught in this riptide and got to the point of having to give up. anyway, so my mom miraculously found sand beneath her feet and pulled me in. we kind of collapsed on the beach. yeah. i've had a fear of water ever since.

>> you and mcgregor in the movie, also nominated. we will be talking to him tomorrow. a good day for the film and a good day in your household, not only because of the nomination but your son's birthday. congratulations on both.

>> caller: thank you so much.

>> nice talking to you.

>> caller: you, too.

>> i know. love talking to folks at the moment they
