Britain celebrates Duchess Catherine’s pregnancy

As word of the royal pregnancy spread on Monday, Brits all over the U.K. celebrated yet another thrilling event for the country that also celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee and hosted the Olympics this year. NBC’s Keir Simmons reports.

>> well, it's absolutely wonderful news, and i'm delighted for them. i'm sure they will make absolutely brilliant parents.

>> reporter: they are celebrating a year that began still toasting a royal wedding , saw the queen mark 60 years on the throne, and the royals helped the country host a successful olympics, and now this.

>> we have now another generation of the house of windsor, somebody who could be a king or a queen of england in the next century, the 22nd century , and that is something for all britains to -- to really celebrate.

>> william and kate will move into kensington palace next year and where they will bring up their new family and, of course, it's where william 's mom diana used to live. already there's excitement here and a little concern with kate in hospital.

>> had a great year. a bit worried as well maybe.

>> at the moment, yeah, but i think you'll find they keep to themselves, and you always get these real worries, you know what i mean ? that's okay. she'll be all right.
