>>> money-making holiday movie season and from small buzzworthy films it mega blockbusters lots to join from and the dave from fandango is here with the must- see list .
>> good morning.
>> good to see you.
>> let's launch right in. a lot of people are talking about "silver linings playbook."
>> if you can get past the title which is a stumbling block for a lot of people. great movie about bradley cooper who gets out of a mental institution , court-ordered to spend eight months there. tries to put his life back together, meets a young woman also mentally unstable played by jennifer lawrence from "the hunger games." have an interesting relationship. the movie is touching but also hilarious. a great move to see with an audience because you can laugh together.
>> on paper it doesn't sounds like a movie you'd laugh with.
>> trust me, best movie i've seen this year.
>> done. putting that on the list. so many buzz behind "the life of pi ." in the trailer it says it's the next "avatar." visuals are stunning like "avatar," stunning 3-d visuals. a boy finds himself shipwrecked on board a life boat with this vicious tiger. people who have read the book know there's a very interesting ending. have you haven't read the book see the movie.
>> don't read the book.
>> until after.
>> usually it's the other way around.
>> is this family friendly ?
>> definitely. pg, some scary scenes that are computer generated but for the younger kids, i wouldn't take this one.
>> and "rise of the guard yap of," willie is letting me babysit his two kids so i can see this movie .
>> this is the big animated release of the holiday season , and it imagines a world where the easter bunny , santa claus and jack frost all know each other and they are kind of action heros in a way and what's interesting about this is a lot of this takes place at night which is not what you see with animated films that are super bright. this has a really great look to it. great for kids of all ages.
>> beautiful. those are open next week and the most anticipated movies of deese, "" les miz .""
>> i cannot wait.
>> i saw goose bumps on the back of your neck.
>> been waiting for this one for a long time. first time that the musical has been put on the big screen . this is a dream cast. hugh jackman , russell crowe , anne hathaway . they can all swing. hype to this and the advance buzz.
>> advanced hype. can it live up, seen the blockbusters, even with a lot of famous names sometimes.
>> i think this lunn with because the director tom hooper did "the king's speech" and won the oscar for it, interesting directorial touches.
>> and another one i'm looking forward to is "the hobbit."
>> at fandango folks are saying this is the one they are most excited to see and that's because peter jackson is back, and this is the first of three movies that he's doing, so this takes the book and they have hate it into three movies. a lot of technological advances people are talking about, and the whole cast is back, ian mckellan and cate blanchett .
>> the other movie, "the impossible," hadn't heard about it.
>> a lot more before weeks go by. this is the true story of a family that actually got caught in the thailand tsunami in 2004 . they are played in the movie by naomi watt, ewan mcgregor and three young boys . what's fascinating is you're looking at the prelude to the tsunami scene right here. the tsunami scenes are so horrific and so realistic looking, but once you get past that, there's the wave. once you get past that it's the story of survival, and it's actually really inspirational.
>> wow.
>> tough to watch.
>> you have to watching that little bit there. something a little lighter, comedies getting buzz, "the guilt terrorism".
>> i cannot wait for this one. barbra streisand , who has not had a lead role in a film in quite some time and seth rogan , play a mother and son who take a road trip together and already get on each other's nerves.
>> already know this is going to be funny.
>> definitely there.
>> and this is "40," remember the movie "knocked up" where it was seth hogan and katherine highel and there was a subplot of this bickering couple, they have taken those two characters and given them their own movie.
>> this is a followup, a sequel.
>> calling it a sort of sequel which is appropriate because they take the "b" plot characters and give them the "a" plot. about to turning them 40 and filling them both with dread and they are dealing with their two daughters. you who who is great in this, melissa mccarthy from "bridesmaids,". stills the scenes.
>> she's great. "zero dark 30."
>> did "the hurt locker," oscar winning and this is about the killing of osama bin laden from start to finish, how the whole thing was planned and executed. jessica chastain from "the help" is the lead, and she's supposed to be terrific in it.
>> amazing list. great.
>> my pleasure.
>> up next, the barefoot contessa
