>> we're going to hear from maroon 5 in a little bit, but first we want to talk about "the voice." can you believe it's been such a success? a network-saving success.

>> i know. it's bizarre. because it was something that we did and i wasn't sure what it was going to be like. you know, you never know. and it just surpassed all of our wildest expectations.

>> well, we know that you won season one.

>> yes, i did.

>> blake won season two. do you feel the pressure? because blake 's been rubbing it in your face a little bit.

>> he likes to do that. he likes to do that. but i'm unfazed by it. he can taunt me all he wants, but at the end of the day , he knows i'm cooler than he is. i love you, blake , slash hate you.

>> ill all be settled on the stage.

>> exactly.

>> you have the new rules, you can do the steal now. that's spiced things up.

>> the steal is great. after extensive market research . what happened was -- just kidding. but no, everyone loves when you press the button, it's cool. and you're right, it spices it up a bit. it's nice.

>> any other suggestions from the focus groups?

>> no. season three is still going on, but actually, you're also in season four, as well. you're testing some things and you've got new judges.

>> yes.

>> shakira and usher.

>> they're amazing. taking it to it quickly. that's another thing, couple of variables, they come in. and they're amazing and i think they were hired for a reason.

>> i was going to say, it must be hard. one of the things that makes "the voice" so good is that you have this chemistry with the other judges.

>> we were concerned, regardless of how amazing people are as artists, you never know if it'll work in this particular context. but they were unbelievable from the get go, picked it up fast.

>> do they trash talk like you guys?

>> there's a little bit. it hasn't gotten as deep yet. once you get really comfortable with each other, the trash talk starts to flow. it'll flow, don't worry.

>> okay. so we know that ceelo and christina are coming back for season five. are you coming back for season five?

>> i do not know what i'm doing. who knows? life is an adventure.

>> now you're going to wax philosophic philosophical.

>> i technically am supposed to be through through four. so we'll have to see -- i mean, that's a long time actually when you think about it. it's still two seasons that need to be completed.

>> all right.

>> i'm not sure where my head will be at that point.

>> i know you've been trying some acting too. you just had an episode on "american horror story ." i watched some of it this morning. it's scary.

>> super gross.

>> you lose an arm.

>> i do lose an arm. i'm really happy it wasn't real because i couldn't imagine how much that would hurt. yeah, you know, and i don't like the horror genre very much. i basically said i don't like this show.

>> what do you do then? offer you that crazy sex scene ? there's some racy stuff in there.

>> i thought it would be a nice way to face my fear. just do it and maybe it won't be terrifying and it didn't work at all.

>> there's a little bit of a racy scene in there.

>> yeah.

>> way to suffer for your art.

>> oh, yeah. thank you.

>> do you think acting is something you want to do more of?

>> you know, i think for me it's a case-by-case basis. i don't know if it's mething -- the things that i've done so far have been incredible. and so much fun. so i think i'll probably keep doing it depending on, of course, what it is that i'm doing.

>> when you watched your episode, did you watch your episode?

>> i tried. i tried. i got like 20 minutes in and then the aliens and -- i just -- it's all of the blood. it wasn't my stuff that scared me, it was everything else that scared me because i wasn't there when it was shot.

>> i googled you this morning and there was a news story that said adam levine loves underwear.

>> i do. i mean, yeah. what a stupid headline. where did that come from?

>> i don't know. google it.

>> i hope it wasn't you guys.

>> it wasn't us.

>> doesn't seem like you guys. you guys are classier than that.

>> we are. i just wondered if there was a backstory there.

>> i say a lot of things.

>> we're out of time.

>> yeah.
