Search intensifies for missing Colorado girl

Hundreds of people are searching for 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, who disappeared Friday morning on her way to school in Colorado. Jessica’s great-grandmother said, “She is a beautiful, wonderful little girl and we want her back." NBC’s Diana Alvear reports.

>> reporter: it's been two days since 10-year-old jessica ridgeway kissed her mother good-bye and began her walk to school. she never made it.

>> if you have her, get her back to her parents. we would appreciate it. she is a beautiful, wonderful little girl and we want her back.

>> you don't know what to do, you know. it's really hard to wonder what is going on and she's over at our house all the time. really miss her.

>> reporter: jessica usually walks to a nearby park. that's where she meets up with friends to walk the last mile to school. her mother was the last to see her. she just finished her overnight shift at work and woke to discover her daughter had disappeared.

>> there's a big delay between when she was last seen and when we were notified and started activating a lot of personnel to start searching for her.

>> if it was my child, i would want someone out here looking for my child.

>> reporter: hundreds of people from jessica 's colorado community have ginned the search.

>> you have a community out here right now that's pulling together to find every piece of evidence they can to get this girl back to her mom.

>> reporter: jessica 's father lives in missouri. her parents have been in corporate recently regarding her custody but at this point there is no person of interest in her disappearance.
