Santa’s reindeer preparing for Christmas

>>> you think you've got a lot to do with three days to go until christmas? imagine what it's like at the north pole . that's where nbc's bob riddell is standing by this morning. good morning.

>> reporter: good morning, guys. first off i want to apologize about our camera situation here. when we got here to the north pole we didn't realize that santa was going to require us to use a local photographer. [ laughter ]

>> reporter: i tried arguing with santa about this. go back behind the camera. all right? i tried to argue with him about this situation but then i realized he is at least 2'4". i'm not going to mess with someone that big. the other elves and santa are inside the shop right now obviously working overtime trying to get these toys ready to put on a sleigh on time for christmas eve , which, you know what, i want to check on the reindeer pulling this sleigh. let's see. there we go. we got dasher, dancer, there's prancer. vixen in the background. cupid, donner, blitzen. wait. go back. no. the other one. that's blitzen. and obviously that one is donner. i am so stupid. mixed those guys up.

>> you did a great job. i think there are a lot of names to mix up. i understand that the reindeer are going high tech . they actually have a dash cam, perhaps a dasher cam?

>> reporter: they do. rudolph, who happens to be inside right now charging his nose, they've gotten him a little camera on there so basically it's a virtual look of what he is doing and of course santa can take a look at what he's got going while he is in the sleigh. one thing going for them this year is the temperature. last year it was minus 40. this year it's a much more reasonable temperature. looks like we're around minus 1, zero. actually a heat wave . get to 5 and we'd be out here in our speedos. i'm sure you're wishing it was 5.

>> only six layers this morning. only six.

>> any santa sightings, bob? we all want to know.

>> reporter: you know, he is inside right now. we weren't even sure we'd be able to get in there he has been so busy. he did squeeze us in yesterday. he's been so busy though with all the kids coming on his lap, asking for the ipad, i-touch, the kindle, barbies and legos have been around forever but he is still getting requests for that.
