NATALIE MORALES, anchor: Well it's every bride-to-be's fantasy, a dream wedding and none of the planning. Colleen Lippert thought she was going to a party this weekend, a retirement party, but she had no idea it was actually her own wedding. When she arrived, boyfriend Shawn got down on one knee, asking her to marry him on the spot.
SHAWN: This is your wedding.
Ms. COLLEEN LIPPERT: Right now?
SHAWN: You're going to get married today.
MORALES: Well, Shawn had been planning Operation White Cake for the past year, secretly finding out all of Colleen 's dream wedding details to surprise her. He even bought the dress that she'd picked out when they talked about eloping to Las Vegas . Their families, friends, and bridal party were all there to help them celebrate the happy, if unexpected day. And, Matt and Savannah , it is a good thing she said yes because all that planning would have been for naught.
MATT LAUER, co-host: That would have been awkward.
SAVANNAH GUTHRIE, co-host: Yes, yes.
GUTHRIE: No pressure. Here's the dress.
MORALES: Sorry. Not happening.
AL ROKER reporting: Wow.
LAUER: Natalie , thank you very much .
