Seven months after revealing live on TODAY that he is HIV-positive, actor Charlie Sheen tells TODAY’s Matt Lauer “it was like being released from prison” to make that admission. He said that lawsuits by women who claim he didn’t tell them his status have no merit and that “protection was always in place.” Sheen said he’s on a trial HIV treatment in which he gets one shot a week: “This is the future of treatment, what I’m doing now,” he says. Regarding his financial status, the actor says “I’m fine” and can afford to make his child support payments. He said he regrets not wearing a condom “one or two times,” “ruining ‘Two and a Half Men,’” and not being more involved in his children’s lives. (Run time: 6:32)June 21, 2016
