A rare event today has sky gazers pointing their telescopes at the smallest and fastest planet in our solar system Monday, for what's known as the Transit of Mercury, when the planet zips across the face of the sun. The seven-and-a-half-hour event can be seen from most places on earth.May 9, 2016
