Wild water park rides

June 25, 2013 at 10:26 AM ET

Video: If you’re looking for somewhere to go this summer that is fun for the whole family, Lisa Gill of Conde Nast Traveler is here to help. She rounds up some of the best amusement and water parks across the country, from Wisconsin to Vermont.

These crazy water slides will send you free-falling into swimming pools, spinning in circles, and hitting speeds as high as 65 miles per hour.

Summit Plummet at Disney World
Orlando, Florida

Top speeds hit 55 miles per hour, thanks in part to a doozy of a free fall just after the ride begins (you'll plummet from 120 feet).

The Mammoth at Holiday World and Splashin' Safari
Santa Claus, Indiana

The world’s longest water coaster takes four passengers up a conveyor belt, then sends them careening down a 32-foot drop at a 45-degree angle. You'll spend two-and-a-half minutes traversing the track (it's a third of a mile long).

F5: Twin Twisters at Schlitterbahn
Galveston, Texas

This pair of slides—twined around one another like a double helix—pumps 900 gallons of water each minute, propelling riders forward at 35 miles per hour.

The Insano water park ride at Beach Park in Brazil.

Insano at Beach Park
Fortaleza, Brazil

This 14-story giant (the world's tallest) leaves riders reeling as they plunge down at 65 miles per hour. Start to finish, the ride takes only five seconds.

Jumeirah Sceirah at Wild Wadi Waterpark
Dubai

This 416-foot slide sends riders down a 105-foot drop at speeds higher than 50 miles per hour. Bonus: You'll get a view of Dubai’s coast as you zip down. Look fast.

Behemoth Bowl at Chimelong Water Park
Guangzhou, China

After a 65-foot drop, centrifugal force spins four riders around this giant bowl. Enjoy the whirling: The ride lasts just 20 seconds.

Wiegand Maelzer Slide Tower at Area 47
Oetzel, Austria

This baby features five 328-foot-long chutes with a jump at the bottom, leaving riders to fall through the air into the pool below.
