It seems that for girl group Fifth Harmony's TODAY performance, the real X-factor was their fans.

When it was announced that Fifth Harmony, former contestants on Fox's "X Factor," would be performing on TODAY, fans, or "Harmonizers" as the group refers to them, rallied on social media to ensure the concert would take place outside on the TODAY plaza.


"We love (our fans). They're so incredible, and the fact they would harass the TODAY show to get them to do something like this for us is amazing," Lauren Jauregi, 17, said. In addition, many fans lined up at the NBC Experience Store for a signing with the group.

For the girls of Fifth Harmony, the past year has been a whirlwind, from finishing 3rd on "X Factor," to being signed as a group — like a certain other group of "X-Factor" alums, One Direction.

Fifth Harmony's first single "Miss Movin' On" has already surpassed one million hits on YouTube, and their full album is due out this fall, but the girls say they still can't believe all that's happened over the past few months.

"We’ve received such an overwhelming amount of support, and now we’re here on the TODAY show, let alone outside, performing two of our singles," Camilla Cabello, 16, said. "One fan had a sign with a picture from our first judges panel from 'X Factor' and it’s just such a cool reminder that we’ve made it this far."
