When Flo Rida comes to the TODAY plaza, he comes prepared to dazzle — and Friday's appearance on the TODAY plaza was no exception: Hanging from his neck was a gold supersized head of Jesus decorated in sparkly gems and appropriately, for "Whistle" he had an extra-large, blinged-out whistle.
But Flo is one of those performers who is game for anything, including a last-minute appearance (Michael Buble was unfortunately unable to make his planned appearance, as he discussed earlier in the week) — and despite a humid New York morning, Flo was able to rock the plaza (and rock one young fan's world when he brought her on the stage to dance and sing) with four songs: "Wild Ones," "Can't Believe It," "Whistle" and "I Cry."
He spoke with TODAY's Willie Geist and Savannah Guthrie between tunes, and informed the audience that his next album, "The Perfect 10," will be out in October, though "Can't Believe It" is already available for download. When asked about the "Florida weather" he was surrounded with, Flo grinned: "It's all good; I love the sunshine."
And what about that giant Jesus pendant? Simple enough: "It's the signs of success," he said. "I put God first in everything I do."
