NASA has pretty much mastered the selfie game and now it wants your help for Earth Day.

Earlier in the month, American astronaut Steven R. Swanson took the very first Instagram selfie in space. Now, the agency wants you to take a selfie on the ground and tag it on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with #GlobalSelfie.

NASA even created a sign that you can hold up while taking your picture and helpfully filled out what planet you are on, so all you need to do is write what city you are located in. (Sorry, everyone from Pasadena, Mars, you are going to have to create your own sign).

Don't be afraid to utilize nature. NASA suggests using everything from "words written in the sand" to your location "spelled out with rocks" to let them know where you are. If you happen to soaking with some Japanese macaques, maybe they can sign "letting off some steam in a hot spring" for you.

In May, NASA will unveil “a mosaic image of Earth — a new ‘Blue Marble’ built bit by bit with your photos.” If Ellen can take one in the middle of the Oscars, you can snap a selfie in the middle of your Earth Day. Remember: It's for science.
