Google celebrates Doctor Who's 50th anniversary with new 'Whodle'

Doctor Who fans can exterminate their boredom thanks to a brand-new Google Doodle celebrating the BBC show's 50th anniversary.

Like the upcoming Doctor Who anniversary special, which premieres Saturday on BBC America, Google celebrates the long list of actors who have played the Doctor

Google lets you choose from 11 of the show's most famous Time Lords in a point-and-click, 8-bit mini-game. Once you die, you regenerate as the next Doctor — just like in the show. The game matches you against Doctor Who's most notable villains, from the Daleks to the Cybermen, as you collect the letters to spell out Google.

The people over at Google obviously know their Doctor Who mythology, considering they already added the Doctor's iconic, time-and-space-traveling blue police box, known as the TARDIS, to Google Maps

They also might have been responding to public pressure. Recently, a petition made the rounds on Change.org calling for Google to "do a doodle for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary." It currently has more than 4,000 signatures.

The "Whodle," as Google employees are reportedly calling it, will eventually show up on Google home pages worldwide. Currently, you can see it by heading over to the U.K. version of the site
