As the spotlight shone brightly, newly-divorced Katie Holmes made her Fashion Week debut with the focus not on her personal life, but on the clothes.

The much buzzed-about show by Holmes and stylist Jeanne Yang on Wednesday —  featuring their spring/summer 2013 Holmes & Yang line — was a low-key presentation at New York's Lincoln Center, with models standing in the center of the room rather than walking a catwalk, according to media reports.

The collection reminded several observers of Holmes herself. The New York Times fashion writer Eric Wilson tweeted: “At Holmes & Yang, it all looks very much like Katie,” and noted later that the “models’ hair was pulled back into a ponytail in the style of Katie Holmes.”

Mentioning a navy dress, slouchy leather pants, a motorcycle jacket and a dress with a “questionable” print, Wilson wrote: “It was all perfectly commercial, but none of it added up to a statement.”

The Associated Press, meanwhile, tweeted a photo of a look, asking, “Can't you see Katie Holmes in this?”

With her hair in a pony, Holmes wore slim black pants, an ivory top and black leather blazer, which the Times called the “best leather jacket of the collection.”

“It’s an honor to present here, and we have been showing quietly before,” the 33-year-old actress said, according to the paper. “This felt like a natural step. It’s not a full-blown fashion show; it’s a presentation, and it’s more relaxed, kind of the way we design and the way we’ve always run our business.”

Holmes, fresh off her divorce from Tom Cruise, was described as looking “radiant” by US Weekly, and she happily greeted well-wishers after the show. Her ex’s name didn’t come up once, the Los Angeles Times said.

The makeup looks, meanwhile, came from Bobbi Brown, who recently tapped Holmes as her first celebrity representative. “I didn’t hire a celebrity; I hired a woman who I think is really cool, who is down to earth, who sparkles when she enters a room, and she photographs really well,” Brown told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie on Sept. 7. “She’s beautiful and she’s relatable.”

Since her split with husband Tom Cruise earlier this summer, Holmes has been laying low, getting her daughter Suri settled  in New York City and working behind-the-scenes on her fashion line. But these last two weeks, the star has stepped up her public profile — and what better way than at Fashion Week?
