TODAY at 63: Look back at our very first fashion segment in 1956!

In 2015, the TODAY Show features Jill Martin, Bobbie Thomas and a host of other experts to share the latest trends and hottest looks. But in 1956, it was a different story.

"I think it'd be fun to take a crack at it," said co-host Helen at the time. And with that excited endorsement, TODAY went on to introduce its very first fashion segment.

Two of biggest labels at the time, Ben Zuckerman and Monte-Zano & Pruzan, were featured in the clip about fall fashion. While neither brand is in production anymore, their designs were considered modern and cutting edge at the time.

In the first outfit, our host Helen points out the idea of bracelet-length sleeves. Now called three-quarter-length, the concept is fairly common today. The second look shows a black-and-white tweed coat that would likely be worn with eveningwear in 2015, but workwear in the 1950s. Last but not least, look number three features a hip-hugger suit that Helen thinks "sounds a little dangerous."

Imagine, a suit was considered racy!
