It's pretty genius.

Activewear has made significant strides recently when it comes to style. Athleisure, anyone?

But one company's setting out to solve a more functional problem: the never-ending dilemma of what to do with your phone while you’re working out. From the early look of things, it’s pretty genius.

For many, the only safe option for carrying your phone while exercising (especially outside) is in a pesky armband. But that’s about to change with a pair of smart leggings from Lume Lifestyle. The brand recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of patent-pending “Smart Pocket” leggings, which secure your phone in place while still allowing for easy access and use.

The technology includes "touch mesh," which enables you to change a song, send a text or switch apps without removing the phone from your pants. Lume has also added plenty of comfort features that will make dedicated gym goers happy, too, from moisture-wicking tech, to stretch fabric and a no-slip, wide waistband.

Beyond convenient exercising, the brand’s Kickstarter video highlights other lifestyle benefits of the smart leggings, from discreetly checking your phone during a meal to taking a selfie with friends.

Sound smart? We think so. And so do the over 340 other people who have already backed the project.

Less than a week into its campaign, the brand has exceeded its funding goal of $10,000. But you can still contribute to score an “early endorser reward” pair of leggings for just $38. And after the campaign closes on December 25th, the stretchy pants will be available at a retail price of $88, with delivery expected in February 2016.
