What might you expect to see pop up in fashion next season? New York Fashion Week Fall / Winter 2014 (Feb. 6-13) served up more than a few style surprises, including interesting accessories, fun purses and even a streaker. Take a look at a few of our favorites:
Kate Spade New York: Chinese take-out purse
In the year of the horse, cheeky designer Kate Spade brings us a model fitted in a perfectly preppy head-to-toe red ensemble, carrying a purse designed to look like a Chinese take-out box. Just our taste.
Prabal Gurung: Party crasher
A surprise to both the crowd and the designer, a streaker wearing a crown and red tube socks invited himself onto the Prabal Gurung runway, only to be quickly scurried off by an unimpressed security guard. After a short stop, the runway resumed. The show must go on, after all.
VFiles: Water bottle jewelry
ASSK opened the VFiles show with urban looks complete with water bottle necklaces. A new way to stay hydrated?
Mara Hoffman: Arm cuff by FiLiLi
Jewelry isn’t that shocking but it is when it threatens to steal the show. Filili by Luiny, a New York-based designer, rocked fashion week with their hippie chic arm cuffs as seen in the Mara Hoffman show.
Alexander Wang: Making Brooklyn happen
It’s not going to happen — unless Wang says so. Beloved designer Alexander Wang hosted his fall show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The location seemed to strike a nerve, with attendees and reviewers offering a mixture of reactions via their social channels. Even fashionista Man Repeller appeared to poke fun at the controversy on Instagram.
