Sasha Obama's election night skirt was first worn by Malia

Is that a hand-me-down we spot on the first family?

On election night, Sasha Obama, 11, was spotted in a gemstone green skirt from American designer Chris Benz's spring 2010 collection. But she certainly wasn't the first Obama to wear the style: big sis Malia, 14, wore the same item in Jan. 2011 at a White House State Dinner.

Could the ever-growing sisters be following in mom Michelle's recycling footsteps? On Wednesday night, the first lady re-wore a brocade Michael Kors dress she's worn twice before at public appearances. She's repeatedly reused items — from affordable retailer favorites like J. Crew to designer duds from Derek Lam — on numerous occasions, a recession-friendly move often applauded by fashionistas and the public alike.

There's no confirmation from the White House that Malia and Sasha do indeed share wardrobes, but all clues point to a fashionable house united. (Lucky girl! Some of us only inherited pitiful hand-me-downs that looked more like Laura Ashley catalog rejects than designer awesomeness).

One thing's for sure: you can bet Benz is about as happy as a re-elected president: "Oh hello sweet Sasha in CB green skirt on the cover of @nytimes!" the designer tweeted on Nov. 7, adding "Congrats to your pops! Xx."
