Matt Lauer may not be hob-nobbing with royals in London, but he's hanging with them in the pages of Vanity Fair magazine.
The TODAY host has landed a spot on Vanity Fair’s 2012 Best-Dressed List alongside royals such as the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and American stars including Jay-Z and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
For Kate’s third time on the list, she was named for her championing of British designers, including Alexander McQueen, Alice Temperley and Matthew Williamson. Declining the services of the royal dresser, Kate prefers to shop for herself, often caught shopping at stores like low-priced chain TopShop.
TODAY's Natalie Morales said that she admires Kate's accessible style. "What I love about her is that, first of all, she knows what she looks great in. You put a paper bag on her and it would be selling out in London and everywhere around the world... she buys stuff that’s high and low and she’s able to mix and match.”
Maybe Kate's effortless fashion sense has reached other royals, too, as her brother-in-law Prince Harry made Vanity Fair's list for the first time. Ryan Seacrest had an idea for how Kate's husband can catch up with the fashionable twosome. “If I were William, I would just say to Kate, ‘Lay out my clothes the night before and I’ll just slip into them,’” he suggested on TODAY Tuesday.
Seacrest celebrated the inclusion of his friend and colleague Matt Lauer, but was confused on one point. "He doesn’t own many socks," Seacrest pointed out while flashing his own. "He goes sockless all the time.”
Morales suggested that Al Roker be named to the best-dressed list, preferably for sporting the bright orange Olympic track suit that he wore when winning the racewalking challenge against his fellow anchors on Monday.
“I vote for you, Al Roker,” Morales said.
