As a red carpet regular and the founder of a booming style-based business, Reese Witherspoon knows all about looking her best — so when she offers up some fashion advice, we take it.
The Oscar winner recently sat down with TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager and did just that, telling Hager the one item she believes every woman should own.
"I think it's really important to have one dress that you know you look good in," Witherspoon said.
And don't just trust the mirror!
"Make sure you ask your girlfriends," she added. "They know you look good, you feel good."

Even with her own Draper James label, Witherspoon values style advice from others, too, and she knows just who to go to for tough fashion talk.
"I usually ask my daughter, my 17-year-old daughter, 'Does this look good?' and she'll be honest with me," the mother of three stated. "She'll be like, 'No. You do not look good. You cannot wear that.' So I depend on her brutal honesty."
And she depends on social media to get it. The actress explained that it's key to keeping the lines of communication open with her oldest kids.

"I have two teenagers, and I've discovered that they will Snapchat me back, but they will not call me back," she told Hager. "And I think it's important for people to communicate well with their children."
