All those poufy sleeves and cartoon-colored frocks? Not for today’s princess.
For a new Harrods holiday window project, Disney collaborated with the high-end U.K retailer to re-imagine their beloved royalty’s wardrobe, with the help of 10 famous designers.
Gone is Aurora’s simple gown and in its place is a dramatic, embellished ruffle creation by Elie Saab, along with a sultry Pocahontas in sexy Roberto Cavalli, Jasmine in floaty chiffon by Escada, and a dolled-up Ariel (wearing what I hope is waterproof eyeliner) in celebrity-favorite Marchesa. As for accessories? You can bet Cinderella ain't dancing at the ball unless she’s rocking some glass slippers emblazoned with the iconic Versace Medusa motif.
Nearly all of the most famous Disney heroines – Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana – got the designer treatment. Their princes? They weren’t as lucky.
These extravagant fairytale-inspired outfits will adorn Harrods' festive windows at their legendary Knightsbridge store on Nov. 1. Watch a video of your cartoon favorites brought to stylish life:
