Summer is one of the most popular seasons for weddings — and for good reason! Warm nights, bright colors and laid-back attitudes are a recipe for a good time.

Mark it with a "Z." Flowers play a huge role in setting the scene and this year, it's all about the Z-factor. "Zinnias are a seasonal, affordable way to decorate your wedding," said Miller. "A little makes a big punch. They are always timeless and classic and feel like summer."

Try a creamsicle scheme(sicle). Consider an orange-and-white combination, from the bow ties to the bouquet! Try an arrangement of calla lilies and poppies or a colorful signature cocktail, like an Aperol Spritz.

Strip down. The cake, that is! "Naked" cakes — those left partially or entirely unfrosted — have caused quite a stir over the past few years. "We feature a naked cake on the cover of the current issue. Typically the frosting is in the inner layers, but we show our own new take on naked cakes," said Miller, citing petits fours with frosting on the top, rolled cakes with 3D patterns and a Pavlova layered with whipped cream. "These are perfect for the bride and groom seeking an alternative to a traditional confection.”

Go avant-garde. A bird-printed, floor-length silk gown? Why not! Actress and model Lydia Hearst shows off some jaw-dropping options for her upcoming wedding to Chris Hardwick (see the full feature here). Warning: These gowns are seriously inspiring.

Broaden your honeymoon horizons. "Honeymoons are no longer just sitting and relaxing on a beach," Miller said. "Couples are taking the time to explore, go on safaris, even do volunteer work. It’s a great way to personalize your honeymoon and make extra-special memories.” A safari-moon? Sign us up!
