Nail stickers are slowly but surely catching up to their seemingly more luxurious predecessor, lacquer.
Sally Hansen Salon Effects announced that Michelle Obama favorite Prabal Gurung is releasing a chic line of nail strips inspired by ensembles from the high-end designer’s spring runway collection. For just $9.99, you can finally have designer style at your fingertips – the peel-and-apply stickers come in two designs, “Sweet Marble Floret" (pink and black splatter paint) and "Good Morning Glory" (violet floral), available at drugstores nationally later this month.
Interestingly, this comes just a week after Avril Lavigne, 27, released her collection for Sally Hansen ($9.99), which boasted 12 fun, young designs, including simple and sweet polka dots and a purple leopard print. (The one design she said she absolutely wouldn't include? "Florals!")
We’re hoping more designers jump on the trend, to provide those who can’t spend thousands of dollars on runway items at least one small way to enjoy high-end design. High-low collaborations are the rage these days, and it’s great when it trickles down to the beauty department. (Hey DVF, I'm still holding out for more designer hosiery – just sayin'.)
But if you’re still a polish devotee, you can hold out for the upcoming Kate Spade New York Summer 2102 travel nail set ($28) inspired by Australian artist Florence Broadhurst, and created alongside beauty expert Poppy King. With beachy bright shades of yellow, blue, orange and watermelon pink, they’re the perfect complement to the preppy label’s line of handbags and accessories. The set, which will debut at Kate Spade New York stores and at Katespade.com in a few weeks, seems like the perfect graduation gift for a fashionista, and an elegant way to spruce up your polish collection.
