London Scout is a pint-sized fashion icon. She has more than 70,000 Instagram followers and recently snagged a front-and-center seat at Petite Parade’s Kids Fashion Week.
She's also 3 years old.
In many ways, London is a typical 3-year-old: She loves dancing, "Frozen," and anything "sparkly." The biggest difference is this toddler happens to have a killer fashion sense.
De Silva started a blog, “Scout the City,” to chronicle her daughter’s style and has made London’s Instagram accounta top priority.
“We are very cautious. Dad actually checks her account every day,” De Silva said. “He will literally check every follower, every comment and he stays on top of those things.”
De Silva said the photos allow her to celebrate London's unique sense of style — and celebrate her biracial background.
“I think it's important for her. It's beautiful. I want her to always embrace that, embrace that she comes from two different cultures. It's very fortunate for her,” she said.
But like all 3-year-olds, London can try her mother’s patience, especially when she doesn't want to be photographed. De Silva said she respects those moments, as well as those times when her daughter looks far from picture perfect.
“I always tend to go behind her and go, ‘Honey, just not too much cake. Just not too much cake,’” she said. “But you know, you have to think about it for a second. You sound crazy. She's a 3-year-old. She's going to get messy.”
