You love your leggings. And who doesn’t? As comfortable as pajamas, they're guaranteed to stick around for a while. But while some consider them little more than thick tights, others, like Pippa Middleton, treat them like pants.
We already know Pippa has the body to pull off nearly any fashion trend. At her sister’s wedding in April, Pippa’s bum nearly stole the show, thanks to a curve-hugging gown, and earned her the nickname “Her Royal Hottness.” Once again this week, Kate's newly single sibling put that famous bottom into full view, venturing out in a short green jacket with her leggings and ankle boots.
But are they too snug to wear on their own? It's a bona fide fashion controversy with its own Facebook group, “Leggings are NOT pants,” with nearly 400,000 likes.
“I am so sick of all of the people who walk around with their full behind showing thinking it is okay because they have leggings on. I am here to say it is NOT okay and that you should go get some pants,” writes the group’s creator.
Still, there are some who don't think leggings' double duty is such a stretch. “This look is down to embracing your personality,” says Maria Bonet, a stylist in London. “I don’t think it should be dictated by being a size 2 and five-foot-ten.”
