Lauren Scruggs is back in the modeling world, reporting this week from New York Fashion Week.
The fashion blogger and former model, who lost an eye and her left hand and suffered a brain injury when she accidentally walked into a moving propeller just over a year ago, has been making great strides in her recovery. Her latest step is returning to style reporting, covering New York's iconic fashion shows for E! News.
"I have been to fashion week each season for many years, but this season took a new turn!" she told TODAY.com via email. "I so enjoy the hype of fashion week, and to be able to interview people that have the same interest and passion is exhilarating."
Scruggs, who started her new gig on Thursday, has been taking to Instagram and Twitter over the last week to chronicle her adventures in the city. So far, she's had the chance to cover runway shows from Kenneth Cole, Rebecca Minkoff, Project Runway Jill Stuart, and has interviewed celebs like Nigel Barker, "The Social Network" star Armie Hammer, and designers including Zac Posen.
"The Kenneth Cole show was my first round of interviews, so I learned a lot and was starting to get to know how it all works!" she told us, adding that the highlights so far have been "interviewing Michael Kors as I interned in his showroom years ago, and Heidi Klum was wonderful to talk with as well. It was fun hearing the inspiration behind the designers' lines from the designers themselves!" She also weathered the weekend's storm, even tweeting a picture of icicles on her shoes.
While Scruggs will not be walking any runways this time around, she says she may down the line. "I am thinking through whether I would like to pursue that," she said.
The 24-year-old says she has come a long way since her injury, and is excited to be where she is these days, working hard with her trainer and planning her full-time return to her website, lolomag.com.
"I am feeling great today," she said. "I still go through hard days, but there has been much joy in seeing my recovery process and how the story has affected others that are going through struggles."
