Anna Wintour gave America's most famous (or infamous?) couple the gift they likely always coveted: A Vogue cover.
Kim Kardashian and fiance Kanye West are shown canoodling in wedding attire on the upcoming cover of the April issue, shot by iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz. The magazine, on newsstands Mar. 31, promises a look into "their fashionable life and surreal times," accompanied by the hashtag #WORDLSMOSTTALKEDABOUTCOUPLE. (Yes, there is a hashtag on a Vogue cover.)
As expected, Kim is very excited:
The cover choice comes as no surprise. Kanye is very much involved in the fashion industry: He's often spotted front row at Fashion Week, he's designed his own clothing and, during one of his more controversial interviews, he claimed ownership of leather jogging pants.
"I brought 10 years of product that has added to humanity," he told BBC 1's Zane Lowe this past fall. "And now, where's the culture at?! So then, I scream, and I'm sitting in the middle of it. Whether I'm at a dinner with Anna Wintour, or I'm at a listening session with Pusha, or me and Virgil are in Rome giving designs to Fendi over and over and getting our designs knocked down. We brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi, and they said, 'No.' How many m************ you done seen with a jogging pant?"
As for Kim, the reality-TV star's style has certainly evolved, no doubt in part to Kanye’s influence. In an August 2012 episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kanye and his stylist politely cleaned out the reality TV star’s closet. (Sample wardrobe feedback from Kanye: Upon looking at an unappetizing purse, he shouted, “Oh, hell no!")
Kim is now often dressed in Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli and other luxury brands. She even received a (questionably artistic) custom-made Hermes Birkin bag for Christmas. And of course, even the couple's offspring is following in their fashionable footsteps: baby North West has been gifted an impressive wardrobe from the likes of Celine, Alexander Wang and Givenchy.
So how does the entire clan look together in their designer outfits? Vogue has footage of the happy, well-dressed family preparing for their photo shoot:
