Jennifer Lawrence may be the new face of Dior’s new handbag campaign, but it’s a face she doesn’t particularly recognize.
While walking the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night, the 22-year-old actress was shown photos from the 2013 Spring/Summer Dior ad campaign for the first time and remarked that they looked nothing like her.
“Oh my God I haven’t seen this,’’ she told Access Hollywood. “That doesn’t look like me at all. I love Photoshop more than anything in the world.’’
The ads show the newly-minted Oscar winner dressed elegantly with her hair pulled back against a neutral background and holding the company’s Miss Dior handbags. Lawrence believes some digital manipulation was involved.
“Of course it’s Photoshopped,’’ she said. “People don’t look like that.’’
Aside from the ads' questionable digital alteration, some fashion editors also took aim at their creative direction. The Huffington Post wondered where the personality of one of the “bubbliest, goofiest and most endearingly gaffe-prone stars in Hollywood’’ went in the understated campaign. The Gloss said she looked excellent in the photos but “seems cold, blank, and to be frank, boring.”
Lawrence wore a Dior gown on Sunday while taking home Best Actress honors for “Silver Linings Playbook.’’ The dress was a last-minute choice.
"I just woke up and tried on the dress, and it fit, thank God!" she said in a press conference following the Oscars. "Then I took a shower – that's what I did. And I got my hair and make-up done. And then I came to the Oscars."
