Jared Leto's luxurious mane has been admired since his "My So-Called Life" days, and the actor took his locks to the next level during the past two award seasons.

Whether styling his ombré tresses in a man bun, braid or simply loose and flowing, the 43-year-old's hair has proved that it deserves a trophy of its own.

But now comes news that Leto has taken a scissors to his luscious 'do.

Director David Ayer, whose upcoming film "Suicide Squad" stars Leto as the Joker, posted a pair of images to his Twitter account, showing Leto's prized ponytail being snipped off for his new role.

"Should we? #SuicideSquad," Ayer captioned the first photo, while the second sees Leto post-chop.

We'll certainly miss Leto's long locks. But to paraphrase Angela Chase, when someone tells you your hair is holding you back, you have to listen.
