Forget giant cakes and massive bouquets, the new wedding trend is miniature

Make no mistake — wedding season is anything but over. “When it comes to weddings, fall is the new summer!" said Amy Conway, the editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Weddings. "This has become such a popular time to get married."

And who could be surprised? With its rich, romantic colors and hearts in extra need of warming, it's the perfect time of year to "fall" for someone else — forever. See Conway's favorite ways to seize the season and create a special day for the couple and guests alike.

Monograms

“More than ever, couples are creating personal brands for their wedding day and monograms are a wonderful starting point for that," Conway told TODAY. "You can use a monogram in so many ways: on invitations, programs, cocktail napkins and so on — and what’s especially nice is that you can continue to use it in your married life for years to come." (You can even monogram the cake!)

Cutout details

“Laser-cut patterns on clothing are so popular and chic right now," said Conway, who recommends trying out the trend on stationery, table decor, and favors. "Using a motif like this in different ways throughout the day ties everything together, giving your wedding details an unified look and making them truly memorable."

Blush-and-berry palettes

“Barely-there pink is soft and sweet. Deep berry is rich and romantic," Conway explained. "Together, they strike a balance and create a palette that’s both of-the-moment and timeless." A high-style spread in the issue shows how to use these shades in everything from the bouquet to the bridal party to the buffet table. "Even cocktails fit in — and you can’t say that about every palette!" said Conway. "Serve signature drinks in these shades, or simply pour rosé Champagne, and red wine." (See more creative color palettes here.)

Statement accessories

When it comes to accessories, this season is all about fur-trimmed heels, jeweled clutches and costume rings (because who says you can't put your own ring on it, too?). “Accessories let you bring more of your own personality to your wedding day look," said Conway. "Why not add a dose of color, texture, sparkle or luxurious embellishment to your ensemble?"
