Start staking out your nearest Kohl’s store, ladies — Narciso Rodriguez is launching a limited-edition collection with the retailer.
WWD reports that the Michelle Obama-approved designer created a capsule collection for Kohl’s and that Rodriguez’s line is the first of several collaborations that the retailer is debuting this fall.
The first lady donned a black-and-red dress by the designer on election night back in 2008, and has continued to support him, wearing his creations to events like the White House Christmas tree lighting.
Rodriguez got one of his first tastes of fame when he designed Carolyn Bessette's dress for her 1996 wedding to John F. Kennedy, Jr. Since then he has become known for his red carpet creations that are regularly worn by the likes of Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies, and Rachel Weisz, but it looks like he’s intent on making a mark in mass retail. Rodriguez last partnered with eBay on an eight-piece collection in 2010.
Kohl’s is equally serious about having a hand in the fashion industry. The retailer already sells lower-priced designer lines like Simply Vera Vera Wang and LC Lauren Conrad. But can Kohl’s really become the next Target or H&M?
The Rodriguez and Kohl’s camps haven’t released official statements regarding the collaboration, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.
