Drugstore vs. designer makeup: Can you tell the difference?

Women spend around $15,000 in their lifetime on makeup alone. Designer brands say they have better ingredients that go on easier and last longer. But but do you need to spend a small fortune to look flawless?

The Rossen Reports team enlisted identical twins Meltem and Sinem to test two similar looks — one from drugstore brands and the other from designer brands.

Both looks included foundation, blush, mascara, eye liner, eye shadow and lipstick. The designer look cost around $250. The drugstore look from Cover Girl cost $60. Would the $190 savings be noticeable to the average person?

The twins took to the street to see which look people liked better. Some couldn't tell the difference, while others chose the designer look.

But the overwhelming majority chose the drugstore brands, with 78 percent saying the less expensive look was their favorite.

The twins also stopped by Studio 1A to test Matt and Savannah — both anchors were convinced that the drugstore look was the more expensive of the two.
