When one couple's rings were stolen before their wedding day, they came up with a hilarious way to improvise: Ring Pops.
Mandy Grogg and husband Ryan Williams, who are both in the U.S. Army and currently live in Germany, wore the candy rings during their wedding last month in Kansas City, Missouri, turning a misfortune into an unforgettable photo opportunity.
"We were sad of course, but we tried to be humorous about it," Grogg, 24, told TODAY.

They had ordered wedding bands and were getting them resized right before the wedding, when the jeweler contacted them saying the rings had been stolen from the back of a FedEx truck, she said. Also gone was Grogg's engagement ring, which they had sent to be cleaned before the wedding.
"We found out the Thursday before the ceremony that they were gone," said Grogg, who is originally from the St. Louis area and met Williams in college in Missouri, where they were both in ROTC.
"They offered to give us fake rings that we could use," she added. "But it felt weird doing that. We were sitting in the car and I jokingly said, 'Well, we can go buy Ring Pops.' We called [Ryan's] parents and they said the same thing. We may as well try to find some humor in this."

The family embarked on a hunt to find the retro candy.
"We called all the grocery stores and finally found a store that had them and we bought them all," said Grogg, who's a chemical officer in the Army. "We had some for family and friends while we were all getting ready."
Grogg has since gotten a new wedding band, but her husband Ryan, 25, is still waiting for his ring. Grogg’s replacement engagement ring was shipped to her parents’ house last week.
At the end of the day, the Ring Pops made for a fun detail in her wedding photos — “That’s what everyone says!” Grogg said — and a wedding her friends and family won’t forget.
"It was a crappy situation, but it really turned out good,” she said.
