The latest trend in denim is anything but blue. From pretty pastels to animal prints, jeans are the ultimate statement piece this spring. TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas shares tips on how to wear them well:

 Bold and bright

From hips to fingertips, "highlighter hues" have been all over recent runways.  If you're new to neons and wondering how to wear them well, consider taking a cue from the always-stylish Jessica Alba, who was recently spotted sporting bright yellow jeans paired with a classic black and white stripe top.  This pairing of 'punchy' and 'preppy' works well with all of this season's sorbet tones, from strawberry and lime to shocking canteloupe, so scoop up your favorite flavor, pull a bold blouse out of the closet and get ready to glow. Chic and sharp

Looking to upgrade your usual evening outfit? Try trading in your dark denim for rich and sophisticated jewel-tone twills.  Shades of plum, ruby and deep teal can be just as flattering as the old, navy stand-by, but for evening they add an extra touch of polish, especially when worn with a crisp blazer or fashion forward leather jacket. Whether you accessorize with sexy stilettos or a structured satchel, you can't go wrong with a fresh punch of color. (Michael Kors Iris Jeans, $76, Macys.com; I.N.C. Jacket $77, Macys.com; Love Fury Nude Pump $89, Ninewest.com)

Soft and sweet

While it's fun to embrace the tough side of denim, it can also be fun to cozy up to the soft & sweet side.  For a confident, pulled-together spring look, try mixing shades from the same color family, like mint with kelly green or royal blue with turquoise.  Blouses with vintage-inspired prints and modern, color-blocked tops are both great ways to top off pastel pants without looking overly frilly or feminine. Pretty and Printed

Last but not least, who would have thought "grey leopard denim" would make it to the forefront of fashion? Countless celebs, from Sarah Jessica Parker to Julianne Moore, have been slipping into suprisingly chic "snow leopard" styles.  When it comes to pulling off this particular print, consider keeping things low contrast.  A grey tee or cardigan, creamy colored shoes and other neutral accents can help keep the look of the leopard in check while making the ensemble wearable for women of all ages at work or at play.
