American Alpine skier and three-time Olympian Ted Ligety says he heads into his first competition at the 2014 Winter Games with a clear mind.
“I just want to think about my skiing. I just want to let myself ski and be calm and let my body do what it knows how to do,” he said about the men's super-combined event Friday.
Ligety, who earned his “Ted Shred” nickname as a boy because “I was kind of a crazy little kid” on the slopes, has worked hard to stay on top after winning gold at the 2006 Winter Games in Torino, Italy. He's a multiple-World Cup champ but would like to add more Olympic hardware to his collection.
“I tried hard after the Olympics not to just be a one-hit wonder,” he said.
