When the women’s individual figure skaters take to the ice this week, Russia won’t be the only one with a 15-year-old phenom.
American junior champion Polina Edmunds said she’s ready to surprise the world at the Olympics, just like she did the nation when she won the silver medal at the U.S. Nationals last month.

“I knew I was just as strong as everybody else and I just put it out there on the ice and I’m glad that the judges recognized that,” she said.
Edmunds said her ability to nail triple-triple jump combinations will make her stand out during her Olympic performance: "Only the top ladies are doing them,” she said.
Edmunds will be competing against her American teammates, Gracie Gold and Ashley Wagner, but faces fierce competition from another 15-year-old, Russian Yulia Lipnitskaya.
