    Aglow in neon -

"DWTS" often proves that despite how amazing someone's body might be, the costumers can make anyone look bad. Take pro Karina Smirnoff, for example, on the Sept. 24 premiere night. Fantastic body, but a neon flapper dress with matching, giant glowing bracelets? Celeb partner Apolo Anton Ohno fared a little better, but that matchy-matchy bright blue get-up certainly didn't need the neon pink, leopard-print suspenders.

    There's a dress code! -

Sorry, Palin family, but you can't blame this fashion faux pas on "Dancing's" costume department. The show has a pretty strict dress code for its audience members, namely: cocktail wear. It's pretty specific about no jeans. So while Mama Sarah Palin looked great and was appropriately dressed, the same couldn't be said for husband Todd, who broke the no-jeans rule.

    Rawr! -

What's with "Dancing's" obsession with leopard print? Each season, they trot out at least one head-to-toe feline-inspired look, and this season, pro Cheryl Burke got the furry treatment on Oct. 1. Celeb partner Emmitt Smith didn't exactly escape the favored print either. A leopard-print cummerbund and bow-tie helped his costume from becoming a dashing suit for Santa.

Homecoming at the local prison -

Black and white stripes can make one look incredibly fetching. Just check out race-car drive Helio Castroneves in his sexy pinstriped suit on "Iconic Dance Night"! Pro Chelsie Hightower didn't fare quite as well. The top of her dress looked like lingerie, while the bottom ... well, let's just say it's a crime against fashion.

Moves like Jagger, looks like 'an ugly woman' -

Kirstie Alley and pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced a cha-cha to "Moves Like Jagger" on Oct. 8, and the actress even had her pal dress up like the famed musician. But despite Maks' good looks, even he couldn't make the Jagger wig and makeup look decent. Judge Bruno Tonioli went so far as to call the pro "an ugly woman."

    Checkmate! -

Bristol Palin and pro Mark Ballas took on the paso doble as the White Queen and Black King on Oct. 8. Her outfit wasn't so terrible (she looked more like the Ice Queen than the chess piece), but that slit up the front isn't quite so family friendly, as she demonstrates in this shot. What was also unfortunate was Mark's look. Sure, the black suit fit him well, but paired with the big black crown, it was over the top.

    Grape expectations -

Sabrina Bryan took a big gamble on Oct. 8's "Iconic Dance Night" by taking on Maks and Mel B.'s unparalleled and beloved paso doble from season five ... and fell far short. Not only did she get dinged for lack of new content by judge Carrie Ann Inaba, the costume department also put her in an incredibly unflattering purple costume that accentuated all the wrong parts.

    That look is poison -

On Oct. 15, Karina Smirnoff and Apolo Anton Ohno tackled a hip-hop routine to the tune of Bel Biv Devoe's "Poison." Fitting song ... for the goofy looks. Knee-high stockings over fishnets paired with granny panties? Sparkly gold hoodies? And matching gold sneakers for Apolo? Maybe the outfits were a part of the plan to distract from the pair's dancing, since pro Karina was in unfamiliar territory with this particular genre.

    C is for ... -

Sabrina and pro partner Louis Van Amstel may have looked golden in their disco-inspired routine on Oct. 15, but before the pair revealed their sparkling looks, Sabrina looked a bit more blue. And fluffy. As in the Cookie Monster. Yes, as the show kicked off, the former Cheetah Girl wore a giant furry blue coat that had her looking like she had just left the set of "Sesame Street." Unfortunately, "DWTS" did not have any photos available of the big blue mess.

Green, but not with envy -

Even good-looking folks can't always make iffy clothing look nice, as Melissa Rycroft and pro partner Tony Dovolani demonstrated on Oct. 15 during their jitterbug. Isn't there a cute way to make the pair look like they belong in a '60s diner? And if there is, we're betting that unfortunate shade of green isn't part of it. Also, that "6" on Melissa's apron? We consider it unfair, seeing as how none of the other stars got their call-in numbers for votes placed front and center on their costumes.

    Do not pass 'Go' -

"Guilty Pleasures Week" could've been renamed "Guilty Week," judging from co-host Brooke Burke's Oct. 22 look. It looks like the season-seven champ borrowed Chelsie's dress from Oct. 8 and repurposed it.

    Where's the costume? -

OK, let's be honest: Gilles Marini and pro Peta Murgatroyd had the best worst costumes of the season when they donned little more than towels for their portion of the "Gangnam Style" team dance on Oct. 23. The pair showed off their stunning bodies and made viewers laugh with their goofy take on the viral video. The only negative? Gilles' out-of-place black tennis shoes. (Hey, Peta got a pair of flesh-toned shoes!)

Worst 'Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars' costumes

    of

    Red alert -

Kelly Monaco is a stunning woman. Stunning. So why would the costume department put her in a dress that makes her look so much older than she actually is? The color's fantastic on her, but it looks like they skinned poor Elmo to give her dress some drama at the shoulders and hem. To make her outfit look even worse, she's sandwiched between two very dapper and impeccably dressed men.

    Hot ... pink mess -

Were the costumers chugging so much pink stuff backstage that they saw nothing but this shade on Nov. 5? Pro-baller Emmitt Smith looked good from the waist up, but the pants and the shoes? It almost appears as if the man had been dipped it Pepto. And poor pro Cheryl Burke! Not only did she get the same shade for her costume, but it appears as if the designers got so sick while constructing her look that they ran out of time to sew on the left side of her top.
