Modesl in the movies

Which photo's the modeling shot, and which one's from a movie? It can be hard to tell when supermodel Kate Upton (on SI's cover, left) plays a supermodel in the 2014 comedy "The Other Woman."

Channing Tatum modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Dolce & Gabbana and other brands -- and he also worked as a male stripper. That experience came in handy when he starred in the movie "Magic Mike."

Tyra Banks began modeling at 15, and after a successful career, created "America's Next Top Model," in which young women compete for a modeling contract. Her brief foray into movies (that's her in the 2000 film "Coyote Ugly" at right) was less successful.

Cameron Diaz, age 17, beams from the cover of a 1990 issue of Seventeen Magazine, at left. Diaz began modeling at 16 and traveled the world. She moved into movies at 21 with "The Mask," a role she won despite having no acting experience. She may be most famous for 1998's "There's Something About Mary," at right.

Christie Brinkley began modeling at 19, and was a frequent magazine cover girl. She has appeared on more than 500 magazine covers. She's not really thought of as a movie actress, but her small part as a beautiful blonde in a red Ferrari in 1983's "National Lampoon's Vacation" is a famed part of movie history.

Halle Berry won a number of beauty pageants, and was first runner-up to Miss USA in 1986, before pursuing a modeling career. That turned into acting later, and she combined both careers when she played a model on the ABC show "Living Dolls." But it was for "Monster's Ball" in 2001 that she won the Oscar for best actress, the first African-American to do so.

Fabio has a last name -- it's Lanzoni -- but he's mostly known for his single name and his lion-like mane of hair. He appeared on the cover of hundreds of romance novels and has done a tiny bit of acting, including a role in the 2001 box-office bomb "Bubble Boy," in which he's seen at right.
