In anticipation of Duchess Kate’s upcoming birth, take a look at other long-awaited celebrity babies, from Shiloh to Suri to the world’s first “test-tube” baby.

Duchess Kate stands beside Prince William on June 15, 2013 at her last public event before their first child is due in July. There’s been much speculation about the royal baby, with people wondering what gender the baby will be and what the royal couple will name it.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed a baby girl into the world on June 15, 2013. Kardashian’s pregnancy became tabloid fodder from the start, mainly because of her maternity wardrobe.

She was criticized for her skintight outfits and questionable fashion choices. Even Robin Williams mocked Kardashian’s taste for a Givenchy gown she wore to the MET gala earlier this year, noting the floral flock resembled an outfit he wore as the cross-dressing senior citizen “Mrs. Doubtfire.”

As the due date rolled around, West made it clear he had had enough of the nation’s obsession with his baby, telling The New York Times, “I just don’t want to talk to America about my family… This isn’t America’s baby.”

Following months of speculation, David and Victoria Beckham announced the name of their fourth child and first girl, Harper, on Facebook in 2011. After three boys, the public was eager to get a glimpse of their little girl, who turned out to be quite the camera charmer.

Most recently, David and his daughter have been spotted looking cute together on the Staples Center Kiss Cam in Los Angeles.

Grammy-winner Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon greeted twins, Monroe and Moroccan, on April 30, 2012. The couple had struggled to conceive the twins, who were born via C-section, after a miscarriage.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, both critically-acclaimed actors, are now expecting their second child. But the world rarely even saw this Spanish couple photographed together in public until their first son, Leo, was born in January 2011, just six months after they tied the knot in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas. Cruz managed to keep her first pregnancy a secret until she was about halfway through it, at which point, she became a paparazzi target.

Glimpses of Blue Ivy, Beyonce and Jay Z’s first child together, are few and far between. The notoriously private singer gave birth via C-section on Jan. 8, 2012, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, after months of the public's fascination with her pregnancy.

From the start, Beyonce helped cultivate the buzz by announcing her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in L.A.

Before Gisele Bundchen had children of her own, the supermodel was also seen as the woman now-husband Tom Brady may or may not have left his pregnant girlfriend for. Once Gisele announced her own pregnancy, fans were eager to see what the child of this photogenic couple would look like.

Today, the couple has two children together – 3-year-old Benjamin (born in December 2010) and daughter Vivian (born December 2012). The couple are also often seen with Brady's son Jack from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Tabloids watched closely as Jessica Simpson reportedly gained 70 pounds during her first pregnancy. Simpson dropped 50 pounds of it while working under a deal to serve as a Weight Watchers spokeswoman after the birth.

But she and fiancé Eric Johnson quickly announced they were expecting again, just months after the May 2012 birth of their daughter Maxwell Drew John.

When singer Jennifer Lopez married Marc Anthony, they became one of the world's sexiest Latin couples. It was then no surprise that fans were mad to see photos of their twins, born Feb. 22, 2008.

The exes, who split in 2011, now share custody of the twins, Max and Emme. Jennifer Lopez recently celebrated their 5th birthdays, tweeting, “Happy Birthday coconuts! 5 years of joy and true love! School cupcakes. Mom duties. Best feeling ever.”

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and musician Chris Martin made headlines in 2004 for their unusual choice of name for their first child: Apple. From the start, the couple sparked the public's interest — from their secret wedding in 2003 to Paltrow's chic maternity wardrobe.

They also welcomed a son into the world, named Moses, in 2006.

Of all the celebrity babies, perhaps there was no one as anticipated as Shiloh, the first biological child of uber-couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, born on May 27, 2006. The public was further fascinated by the fact that she was born in Namibia, Africa.

The Jolie-Pitt brood now includes six children, and Shiloh (far right) turned seven on May 27. “You know, because you’re there for the birth, which I wasn’t for my first two kids, you’re just suddenly terrified that they’re not gonna take a first breath,” the actress said in an interview with CNN in 2006.

Critics say Britney Spears went from pop princess to tabloid fodder after she married her backup dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she co-starred in a poorly-rated reality show before their marriage dissolved.

Among the few bright spots that emerged from their union were two adorable children, Sean Preston, born in September 2005, and little brother, Jayden James, who arrived almost a year later to the day. The public was curious to see how the former Mousekeeter would handle pregnancy — and being a mom.

Nicole Kidman has two children from her first marriage to Tom Cruise, and another two with current husband Keith Urban. The actress gave birth to her first daughter with Urban, named Sunday Rose, in 2008. It was a sweet moment for Kidman — and fans — as the actress had been rather public about her struggles with infertility.

The couple had their second daughter, Faith Margaret, with a surrogate in 2010.

Much speculation surrounded the birth of Suri, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ first and only child, born in April 2006. Holmes had converted from Catholicism to Scientology, of which Cruise was a faithful adherent, for their marriage.

Rumors circulated over whether she would deliver their child under the controversial religion’s “silent birth” philosophy that restricts physical moments and sounds. The couple also fueled anticipation by keeping Suri out of the public eye for several months after her birth, choosing to reveal her on the cover of Vanity Fair in September.

The couple has since divorced, with full custody of 7-year-old Suri going to Holmes.

Robert Edwards holds the world's first "test-tube" baby, Louise Brown, who was born on July 25, 1978. The event reverberated around the world, and Edwards' research enabled infertile couples to have children for the first time.

Just months before she announced her pregnancy, Madonna spoke about her biological clock ticking and joked about taking out a personal ad to find someone for “the fatherhood gig.”

That candidate turned out to be former boyfriend and personal trainer, Carlos Leon, whom Madonna fiercely protected years after they broke up. She said she resented the insinuation that she used Leon as a “sperm donor,” particularly because the two had been in a relationship for two years and discussed having children. >“Then it didn't work out, but it was my intention for it to work out. This was a child born out of love," she said.

Lourdes “Lola” Leon was born Oct. 14, 1996. The public was eager to see how one of America's most risk-taking performers would adapt to motherhood.
