Alfred the koala

A joey in Queensland, Australia, was discovered in a handbag during a traffic stop on Nov. 6. Police have since named the koala Alfred and he's being looked after while the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) waits to find a carer for him.

Young zebra makes its debut

A five-day-old zebra calf stands with her mother after she was released in an enclosure for public viewing at the Alipore Zoological Garden in the Indian city of Kolkata on Nov. 8. This is the first successful assisted birth of a zebra at the zoo.

Young pup

A seal cow tends to her newly born pup on the sand dunes of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust's Donna Nook nature reserve in northeast England on Nov. 8 Every November and December, thousands of grey seals give birth to their pups near the sand dunes of the Donna Nook nature reserve, which is the location for one of the four grey seal colonies on the English east coast. Last year, almost 2,000 grey seal pups were born at Donna Nook.
