    13 days old Salt's dik-dik stands on a scale in the zoo Duisburg, western Germany, on November 11th. The Salt's dik-dik is one of around 100 of its species in European zoos and is fed by an employee as it is not accepted by its mother.

    Playing with ice? Somebody get this guy an iPad

    One-year-old Chimpanzee Liwali plays with ice blocks at Taronga Zoo where keepers filled the ice blocks with the chimp’s favourite foods in Sydney, Friday, Nov. 20th. With forecast temperatures expected reach above 40 celcius (104 Fahrenheit) zoo keepers placed the large ice blocks around the exhibit for the chimps to find when they came out for breakfast.

Polar bear populations are likely to fall by more than 30 percent by around mid-century as global warming thaws Arctic sea ice, experts said on November 19th in the most detailed review of the predators to date.

    Really gets my goat (goats??)

    This photo taken November 4th, shows Kristi Orcutt out for a walk with her goats in Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County, Va. Orcutt, 50, raises goats, which she hires out as living weed whackers for places being overtaken by unwanted plants. But to Orcutt, her 20 goats are more than livestock. They are pets, and it’s not unusual to find one in the house. The work they do, she said, is not just a business but a boon to the environment.
