CHICKEN WITH BARBECUE SAUCE

Ingredients

  • 2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine or water
  • 1/4 cup wine or rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pound chicken thighs or breasts

Preparation

Baking Directions:

Start a charcoal or wood fire or preheat a gas grill or broiler; the rack should be about four inches from the heat source.

Combine all ingredients except chicken in a small saucepan and cook over medium-low heat (or you can use a microwave), stirring, for about 10 minutes.

Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.

Store, refrigerated, for up to a week.

Thread the chicken onto skewers without crowding.

Grill or broil until browned all over and cooked through, a total of about 10 minutes.

Start basting with the barbecue sauce during the last 3 or 4 minutes of cooking.
