Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Baking Directions:

Combine the sugar and corn syrup in a heavy gauge 2-quart pot.

Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar melts.

Bring to the boil and allow to boil without stirring until the syrup turns medium brown.

Remove from the heat and add the butter all at once, stirring it in until the mixture is smooth.

Then add the cream and return to the heat, stirring until smooth again.

Allow it to boil again and as it boils, it will begin to climb up the sides of the pot.

Remove it from the heat, stir and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes.

Strain through a fine mesh strainer.

Add the vanilla extract, stir and serve.
