This sweet, French fry fake-out is sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who tries them. And they're as much fun to make as they are to eat.

Ingredients

Blondie French fries
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 large egg
  • teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Flaky sea salt (for garnish)
Strawberry ketchup
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

Preparation

Heat oven to 350°F. Line an 8- by 8-inch metal baking pan with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, stir melted butter and brown sugar until blended. Add the egg, vanilla and salt, then stir vigorously until smooth. When the batter looks well blended, fold in half of the white chocolate. Add the flour and stir until combined.

Spread the batter evenly in lined pan and bake 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out relatively clean.

While blondies are baking, combine strawberries with sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook until sugar dissolves. Turn heat down to low and simmer until berries have softened. Place in blender and pulse until sauce is smooth. Pass through a strainer to remove seeds. Chill until ready to serve.

Place cooled blondies in freezer for 15 minutes prior to cutting. Remove from the freezer and cut into 4 squares and then cut into strips.

Melt the remaining white chocolate in a microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Place blondies on wire rack and spoon melted chocolate over the top of each brownie covering it completely. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and serve with strawberry ketchup.
