Chef notes

Meet avocado crostini — avocado toast's bite-size, fancier sibling. Al prepares them in three different ways — with avocado by itself or with salmon and dill or tomatoes and basil. Toast 'em, spread 'em and top 'em, and you've got the perfect snack to pack or hors d'oeuvres to serve.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette
  • olive oil
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • salt and pepper
  • Smoked salmon
  • Fresh dill, picked off the stem
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Basil leaves

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice baguette into ½-inch slices. Drizzle with olive oil and place oven until golden brown. Scoop out avocados into a bowl and add lime juice, olive oil, and salt and pepper. Mash together and smear onto baguette slices. Enjoy by itself or garnish with salmon and dill or tomatoes and basil.
