Ever wonder why there's always booze in the fourth hour? If you guessed Chelsea Handler, you're right. (And maybe psychic! What a random guess!)

When "Chelsea Lately" scribe Sarah Colonna stopped by Studio 1A, the elusive origin story of the giant wine glass was revealed. Sarah came to promote her dating memoir, "Life as I Blow It," and brought the ladies a bottle of champagne, courtesy of her saucy boss/friend. In return, she was treated to an impromptu fourth-hour history lesson.

Noted "Boozeday Tuesday" chronologist KLG said there might be no morning cocktail hour if not for Chelsea and her prodigious vodka consumption. When she visited the show way back when with her own dating memoir, she changed the course of human events. Or at least made them a little more loopy.

As the story goes, the producers made some drinks for the appearance as a nod to her book's title, "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," which went over so well with the ladies that a new tradition was born.

"All of a sudden, it became a little bar," explained Hoda wistfully.

And the rest, as they say, is boozy history.
