Debate continues about whether Lindsay Lohan actually hit a man with her Porsche SUV early Wednesday morning, and the New York City Police Department has now released surveillance video showing the incident.
Lohan, 26, was trying to drive her 2010 Porsche Cayenne into a New York alley near her hotel early Wednesday. A crowd of people stood around the car, and a 34-year-old man later claimed Lohan hit him. Reuters reported that the man was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of a knee injury.
The videotape shows Lohan flashing her headlights as she slowly drives toward the group of people. It is not clear from the video whether the right bumper of her car touched the man. After her car passes, the man is seen running after Lohan's car yelling.
Law enforcement officials have said Lohan had not been drinking before or after the incident. As of late Wednesday, they were awaiting medical records to determine whether he was actually struck by the SUV.
Lohan then entered the Dream Hotel and was arrested when she came out at 2:30 a.m, the NYPD reports. She was booked, issued a desk appearance ticket, and released without bail.
The actress spoke out about the incident on Thursday.
"A paparazzi sat on the hood of my friend’s car and they arrested me. It’s so absurd, completely unfair and unjust," she told HollywoodLife.com. "It’s just because it’s me — it’s unfortunate."
"While some of the facts are still being gathered, it appears that this is much ado about nothing," Lohan's publicist Steve Honig said in a statement. "We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue."
Though she was released from formal probation in March of this year after being charged in 2007 with drunk driving and cocaine possession, the actress remains on informal probation until 2014 in connection with the theft of jewelry in 2011. According to Access Hollywood, the L.A. City Attorney's office has forwarded information about the incident to the relevant authorities. It's unclear if Lohan will be charged with a violation of probation.
In June, Lohan and her assistant were briefly hospitalized after a different Porsche driven by the actress collided with a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Calif. The actress was driving to the set of her Lifetime movie, "Liz & Dick," in which she plays late actress Elizabeth Taylor.
