“The Voice” set aside its usual flashiness and kicked off with a call to action on Tuesday's results show.

Coach Blake Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert opened the program with a touching version of “Over You,” dedicated to the people of Oklahoma, Blake's home state, which was devastated by a deadly tornado Monday. The performance stripped away all the show’s usual extravagance and replaced it with emotion as information on how to donate to the Red Cross was displayed on screen. (Check NBCNews.com on more information on how to help.)

The only downside for the show is that everything afterward seemed anti-climactic.

Lest anyone think Blake was suddenly going to become serious and gloomy all the time (he had also expressed his horror at the tragedy on Monday), when host Carson Daly asked him how nervous he was about the results soon afterward, Blake described himself as suffering from “ulcers, nausea and diarrhea.” (Dude, seriously, keep that to yourself.)

The country star had no reason to be concerned though one of his acts, The Swon Brothers, had to sweat things out. The Oklahoma duo were the last act declared safe, thus avoiding an awkward moment that would have seen the show pay tribute to the tornado victims while giving the boot to the local act.

The duo's good fortune meant Josiah Hawley and Kris Thomas were the two singers eliminated, as all of Blake and Adam’s acts advanced. The results leave Shakira and Usher with just one singer apiece remaining, and the two freshmen coaches reached across the divide between their chairs and ruefully shook hands as the credits rolled. A sharp contrast, indeed, to Monday’s show, where Shakira’s rant against Usher’s gentle critique of her song choice for Kris left the R&B star ducking behind his chair.

The eliminations also mean that The Swon Brothers are the only men left in the competition, facing off against seven female soloists. (Maybe next week they’ll sing “One of These Things Is Not Like the Other” from "Sesame Street.")

The good news for the new coaches is that neither is likely to lose their final singer anytime soon. Usher’s Michelle Chamuel and Shakira’s Sasha Allen are among the few with any chance of knocking off Blake’s Danielle Bradbery, already the prohibitive favorite.

In more good news, Vin Diesel was in the audience and invited everyone there to the “Fast and Furious 6” premiere, so Kris and Josiah had the opportunity to drown their sorrows in popcorn and soda.
