With the exception of a few well-earned nods for some of television’s top contenders, including “House” and “The Simpsons,” the People’s Choice Awards were packed with shocking TV wins.
For instance, the widely and oh-so-justifiably panned “$#*! My Dad Says” took top honors in the best new comedy competition, beating out the Maw Maw laughs on “Raising Hope.” And “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” somehow claimed “favorite TV guilty pleasure” status against the far more guilty and pleasurable “Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
How can that be? As viewers were frequently reminded Wednesday night, it’s “the people” who select the winners of the People’s Choice Awards.
Oh, the people, what were you thinking?
You really preferred Demi Lovato’s dramatic guest spot on “Grey’s Anatomy” over Betty White’s “Community” comedy? And your TV chef pick is Rachael Ray rather than Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver or Paula Deen? Then again, you didn’t even nominate Mario Batali, Anthony Bourdain or Alton Brown, so that one hardly matters.
Of course only a small percentage of the people made these selections, and they were the same ones who decided that “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” was a far better film than “Inception.” No, really.
So what do the rest of the people say? Which TV stars and top shows were robbed and which ones do you believe should have won?
